Carefree laughter

Good morning.  I haven't had a great deal of time to scrap lately.  Unfortunately life has been getting in the way and with Christmas coming so quickly I'm afraid I will have less time to get creative!
The first layout I have for you today uses one of the many awesome A2Z Scraplet chipboard titles that are available here.  I again tried my hand at some mixed media...have to say I don't know if I will ever really take to mixed media.  I never seem to be totally happy with my end result, it never turns out quite like I imagine it in my mind.  Needless to say, every so often I give it a crack again.

Here is a close up of the title that I simply heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

For the Leafy Vine, I also embossed with the gold, but while it was still hot I sprinkled some white over the top randomly.

My next layout is titled "Carefree" and again features my daughter.  So easy to do girly layouts and even easier when your daughter is so photogenic.

For the title with this one I coated it with gesso then to achieve the colour I needed to match with the paper I first spritzed with a mist, but the colour didn't give me the consistency and vibrancy I was after, so I dug out my gelatos and rubbed a combination of a pink and red over the chipboard and ta-da I had the colour I wanted!

The other chippie on this layout is actually called "Pumpkin Vines".  When I was making this layout I thought it looked like rose leaves and a rose bud that went well with the paper I used.  It wasn't until looking up the name of the chippie in the A2Z Scraplets products that I saw what it was called and had a little giggle to myself for being so wrong!  Oh well, I still think they work ok on this layout.  I coated them with white gesso, then painted the leaves and stem green and did the pink "rose bud" the same way I did the title.  I then outlined the "buds" with a green pen and drew the veins onto the leaves for more character.

I guess the fact that I used pumpkin vines as rose leaves and buds shows that so many things are open to your own interpretation providing versatility.

See you next time!
Until then, happy crafting.

Remember this...

Hi all!
November is here and that means only a few more weeks until I'm on holidays and I can't wait!!!  But first let me share with you this layout of my sweet boy for my DT position at A2Z Scraplets...

I have used the Remember this circle word and the xoxo word from A2Z Scraplets on this layout.  Both were coated with gesso, then painted with mists.  I cut the circle in half and separated on my layout to make it go a little further.  The xoxo and the circle were then covered with kindyglitz for some sparkle.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Until next time,

Beach Boy

Hi!

This month I thought I'd have a go at the Kraft + Challenge - and to make it even easier, it's a sketch challenge!  I love sketch challenges.  So for this one you have to use Kraft as your base and use the sketch and triangles for inspiration.  I have combined this challenge with my DT work for A2Z Scraplets and used their great chipboard triangles.

I had a lot of fun with this one and was very happy with the end result.  I am loving flatter, simpler layouts lately.

I have another layout for you today, also DT work for A2Z Scraplets.

As you can see it is another simple, flat layout.  I have been quite inspired by Tarrah McLean's layouts recently and loving it!

Well until next time, happy scrapping.

Bottoms Up!

Hi!  It's been a while since I did a blog post - life has been too busy.  Between work, house, children and living I don't know where the weeks go!

Here's a layout I have done of my son for A2Z Scraplets featuring their chipboard.

Until next time, happy scrapping.

My sweet boy

Good afternoon.  Almost the start of another week and almost the end of another month!!

I thought I would share with you 2 layouts I completed recently - just because - of my sweet little boy.  He not so little anymore, turning 15 in 3 months, but he is still just as sweet.

The first one was taken when he was just 2 months old giving mummy big sloppy kisses!  How I loved those kisses.  Fortunately I still get kisses from my boy, but thankfully they're no longer sloppy ones!

The second layout features a photo of my boy when he was just 5 days old.  In fact I believe it was taken when we were still in hospital!

It amazes me everyday the rate at which my kids have grown up - it really doesn't seem like 15 years ago I was carrying him in my tummy, yet to meet…appreciate every single second with your children for before you know it they will have grown up and moved out and on with their own life.  We can't turn back the clock but we can slow it a little by being very present and mindful and available to share with and in everything  our children do.

Before I get too philosophical, I better go and start getting ready for hubby's birthday dinner!

Until next time,

Sour High

Hi there!  I have 2 layouts that I did for A2Z Scraplets DT to share with you today.  The first one is my take on the monthly challenge using the following image as inspiration…

I took inspiration from the balloons for my layout.  The photos of my handsome young man were taken very recently on a Sunday afternoon on a spur of the moment.  I have scrapped so many photos of my beautiful daughter recently, and realised I didn't have any recent photos of my boy.  He resisted when I asked him if we could take some photos, but once we started he happily obliged.  You will see more photos of him in coming months.

Some closeups (don't mind the colour, or lack of - for some reason once the photos have been uploaded to the blog they get majorly washed out, unless I overcook them)

The next layout I would like to share is a fun one of my boy when he was just 16 months old playing with water!!

Closeup of the chipboard...

This layout is based on a layout I saw on Pinterest.  I had a lot of fun with this one, painting the circles and sploshing paint around.  I used Goosebumps Clear Texture Spray on this layout to imitate water droplets.  You can see the droplets on the Splash word in the title, unfortunately you can't see them on the page in these photos.

Thank you for stopping by.
Enjoy the rest of your week.

Together is the Best

Hi and thanks for visiting!

Today I have for you a layout using a family photo that we took a few years ago.  We were in Ballina for our nieces wedding and had time to kill between the ceremony and the reception.  So we decided to take the camera and tripod with us to the beach to take some "selfie" family portraits!  Thank heavens for self timers!!  This photo is just one of many we took that afternoon.

Here's a close up of the title "Together is the best" from A2Z Scraplets.

For this title I coated the "Together" part of the chipboard with liquid pearls and simply heat embossed the rest of the title with black embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Have a great week.

Boys will be Boys

Hi there!  I can't believe that we are now into March!  This year is going to fly by, quicker than last year I fear.

I have a boy layout to share with you today using gelatos!  I only dabble in mixed media - I find it a bit scary really.  I have tried my hand at mixed media in an art journal and really don't like what I have produced.  I guess it's just a matter of practicing more, but I don't have the patience.

Anyway, as I said I have used gelatos on this layout with texture paste.

I also love rainbows.  When I first created this background, I actually had different photos in mind to use, but as it all came together, I decided to use these photos of my son and his mate mucking around being 'boys'!  I quite like the end result and think I shall experiment a bit more with gelatos.

The other layout I have is another of my son, this time with his grandparents.  I have used the A2Z Scraplets mood board challenge as my inspiration - drawing on the yellow.  Such a happy colour!

Some close ups:

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hop over to the A2Z Scraplets blog and check out the mood board challenge that is currently running for your chance to win a goodie bag full of A2Z chippies!!

Until next time, happy scrapping.

A2Z Scraplets Challenges are back!!

Hi there, yes it's true.  A2Z Scraplets have brought back monthly challenges!

This months challenge is a mood board to get your creative juices flowing.  Draw your inspiration from this beautiful mood board to create your masterpiece - BTP, cards, layouts, anything you like…including an A2Z Scraplet of course!

Heres the lovely mood board:

Now heres my layout…

As you can see, I was inspired by the butterflies from the mood board.  To create this layout I actually used the part of a sticker sheet you would ordinarily discard.  I simply left all the butterflies on the backing sheet and adhered the outlines to my card stock.  I then randomly attached a few butterflies after powdering the backs (to remove the stickiness) so I could shape the wings to stand up from the page.

This closeup of the title "Never stop dreaming", was simply coated in white gesso, then embossed with a white glitter embossing powder, as well as LSG pink embossing powder for the word dreaming.  The  original pink colour was the wrong shade to match the other pink in the layout, so I gave it a quick coat of chalk ink and when dry coated it with kindyglitz for sheen and glimmer.

Check out the A2Z Scraplets Facebook page and blog to see what other DT members have created using this mood board.  We can't wait to see what you create, so be sure to upload your layout onto our Facebook page in our March Challenge Album to be in the running for a fabulous pack of A2Z Scraplets goodies!  All entries must be in by the 25th March and the winner will be chosen by the number of likes an entry receives.  Gotta be in it to win it!!  Give it a go, got nothing to loose and some great chippies to gain!!

I am actually very inspired by the colours also in this mood board and can feel another layout coming on.  Check in soon to see what I have come up with.

Until next time, good luck with your challenge entry and happy scrapping!

Paris - take me back!!

Good morning!  Hope this beautiful Sunday is treating you well.  It's  been a loooonnng time since I have posted - my apologies, life has been too busy and I'm not sure anyone comes to visit anyway…

I created this layout of a photo of me taken in front of the Eiffel Tower from January last year, 2014 on a visit to see my daughter, who at the time, was on exchange for 6 months in Germany.  We did a flying 3 day trip to Paris together and had a blast!!  I think we successfully saw all the major sites worth seeing in that short time!

I used the beautiful Pion Design Paris Flea Market papers for this layout.

Also, while on the Paris photos, I have created another layout in front of the Eiffel Tower, but this time with a photo of my daughter, Emily and I.  I stumbled on a stunning layout on Pinterest that I have pretty much scrap lifted for this one, with some differences.

I used Fabscraps paper for this layout - as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it for my special memories of Paris with my beautiful daughter.

Thanks so much for dropping by today.  Until next time….Happy scrapping,
Yvette x
